Who We Are, What We Build, and Why We Build It Ourselves

Synkra Technologies is a software company based in Johannesburg, South Africa. We build business software for small and medium businesses, and we own every product we sell. We are not an agency, and we do not build custom work for individual clients. We wrote this post so that you can read directly who we are and how we work, instead of piecing it together from a pricing page.

What we build

Synkra Chat is available today. It is a customer communication platform that brings the conversations a business has with its customers into one inbox. Customers can reach a business through website chat or by email, and an AI Agent answers routine questions using only information the business has approved. When a conversation needs a person, a team member picks it up in the same conversation with the same history, so the customer does not have to repeat themselves. Synkra Flow is our second product and is still in development. When it is ready, it will let a business connect the tools it already uses, define what should happen and when, and build its own automated workflows without waiting for someone else to build them. We have not announced a date, because we would rather say it is not ready than promise a month we might miss.

Those two products are our current product line. We would rather build a small number of products properly than spread ourselves across many unfinished ones.

Why we exist

Many companies in automation and business software price their work for enterprises. The tools exist, but they are built for businesses that already have a budget, a technical team and room for a long learning curve. We built Synkra for businesses that have none of that, such as a business that loses customer conversations in a WhatsApp thread on someone's personal phone, or pays for several disconnected tools that do not work together, because nothing affordable was built for it.

The standard we hold ourselves to is that software working around the clock should cost less than paying a person to do the same job for eight hours a day, five days a week. We treat that as a constraint when we price and build, not as a line on a landing page.

How we work

We are a small, focused, remote team, without a large office or a large headcount. Support, product decisions and engineering work the same way wherever a customer is. Synkra Chat is billed in South African rand or US dollars, and we work with customers outside South Africa as well as those in it.

We would rather stay small and deliberate for as long as that is the right approach than grow for the sake of a bigger number. If that changes, it will be because the products need it.

Why we build instead of resell

Some companies take an existing platform built by someone else, put their own name on the front end and sell access to it with a markup added. That is a legitimate business model, but it is not ours. With Synkra Chat, the AI Agent, the conversation logic, the roadmap and the support all sit with us. If a feature is missing, we decide whether and when to build it. If something breaks, we fix it ourselves instead of filing a ticket with a vendor on a customer's behalf.

We do rely on established infrastructure underneath our products, such as cloud hosting, the way any software company does. The product itself, the thing a customer pays for and uses, is ours. That is why our pricing can work for businesses that do not operate at enterprise scale: no reseller margin sits between what a customer pays and what it costs us to run the product. What comes next

Synkra Flow remains our focus until it is ready. Beyond that, we are not making public commitments about what follows, because we would rather deliver what we have said we are building than announce a roadmap we then have to explain.
