7. Student and Community Access Terms

These terms supplement the Billing Policy and the Terms of Service. They apply to the Student discount and the Community Access discount.

Student discount: 35% off the standard plan price for Starter, Business, or Pro. Available to currently enrolled higher-education students aged 18 or older. Verification may be by eligible institution email address and six-digit code, or by a qualifying current-enrolment document. The discount lasts until 31 December of the verification year. If the customer does not re-verify, the Account moves to Free and is not automatically charged the standard price.

Community Access discount: 60% off the standard plan price for Starter, Business, or Pro. Available to qualifying non-profits, NGOs, NPCs, charities, or community-based organisations. The applicant must be 18 or older. Synkra reviews applications. Approval lasts 12 months. If it lapses without reapplication, the Account moves to Free and is not automatically charged the standard price.

Application and review: Applications are made under Settings → Billing. We review within 48 hours. Once approved, the discount applies to the next renewal. Any current period charge is not retroactively discounted.

Expiry and warnings: We send a warning email 14 days before your discount expires. If you do not reapply, your subscription moves to standard pricing on the next renewal after expiry.

Revoked eligibility: If we discover that a discount was applied based on incorrect information, we revoke the discount. This happens if student status ended, the community organisation no longer operates or qualifies, documentation was incorrect or falsified, or verification credentials were shared. We notify you by email, remove the discount, and your next renewal charges the standard plan price. We do not retroactively charge for past discounted periods.

Appeals: Email hello@synkra.co.za with supporting documentation. We review appeals within 5 business days.

Corrected admin decisions: If a discount was incorrectly applied by us in error, we correct it. You are notified in advance. Your next renewal reflects the corrected price. We do not retroactively charge for periods where an incorrect discount was applied.
